After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Comparative literature from Union College in New York, Mr. Karambelas earned his Juris Doctorate at Fordham University School of Law. He continued his studies at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs from which he earned a Master of International Affairs with a specialization in international law and Middle Eastern affairs. He has also studied civil law at the law school of the University of Athens, Greece.
For more than four decades, Mr. Karambelas practiced law in the areas of company law, business organization, international business transactions, securities, and e-commerce. His clients have included companies engaged in international business and commerce as well as U.S. companies seeking to do business in Greece, Cyprus, and the Middle East.
In 2020, Mr. Karambelas founded Hastings Analysis. This company assists business persons in translating a business concept into an investment concept. The company analyzes business plans and addresses the interests of investors, identifies potential investors, and manages the investment process. Hastings Analysis offers books and articles on investing and international business transactions, including a guide for doing business in the United States for non-U.S. business persons and an e-book which compares and contrasts U.S. forms of business entities to the forms of business entities in Greece and other civil law countries.
Throughout his career, Mr. Karambelas has taught Continuing Legal Education courses to other lawyers on subjects within his areas of law practice. As an acknowledged expert in company law, he was appointed to a committee which fundamentally revised the business entity laws of the District of Columbia. Since 1994, he has been the author of a treatise on the laws of the limited liability company and other business entities. The treatise is published twice a year by Thompson Reuters West Company. He has also authored numerous articles on company law, international business transactions, commercial law, and international politics.
Mr. Karambelas was honored by the Hellenic Lawyers Association of New York City which awarded him the distinction of Attorney of the Year in 2015. He serves as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the American Community Schools in Athens, Greece. He has served as Secretary on the Board of Governors of the District of Columbia Bar. Hastings Analysis is a member of the American Hellenic Institute, which promotes international trade and commerce.
